And as soon as they are able we train them daily in preparation for the day they will marry and have a husband and a home of their own to care for. 

And even though there are all these years of planning, training and dreaming, nothing can quite prepare you for the day it becomes reality!

Well little did I know on Thursday when I wrote my post about waiting on our grandchild to be born that a few hours later we would get the news that we have been blessed with a precious little granddaughter!

We are so overjoyed to announce the safe arrival of MAKAYLA FAITH. She was 7lbs. 14 oz. and born right on her due date....November 10, 2011!

We got our machine shop cemented (Yeah for that being done and yeah for all the helpers....it was a big job!)

Last week went by like a blur as we were busy getting ready for winter.We have 2 wood stoves to heat our home and so lots and lots and LOTS of wood is needed to be gathered.I think this "wood" probably be one of our favorite work projects together as a family! Zachary's who was 11 yesterday and Jesse who's 9 tomorrow.
It's great having these two boys birthdays so close together because it's double the fun!

Zachary is one of the sparks of our family. He's quite the little clown and comes up with all sorts of things that we just smile and shake our heads at! But underneath all his silliness he is a deep thinker. Do you ever feel like you say some things over and over again.....
I do, like "Shut the Door, Say Please, Say Thank You, Did you do your chores, Did you brush your teeth, Did you wash your hands, Did you clean your room, Be kind, Be Loving,  Be Gentle, Don't Touch, Don't throw that in the toilet!!!!!

Her birth was very memorable as the Dr. was late and they told me not to push....
I still have hip problems today from listening to those nurses!!!! NEVER AGAIN :)
And I also fainted a couple of times when in labor with her.
So ya, memorable :)
And when the Dr. said she was a girl I didn't believe him. I was so sure that I would have a boy.

I know I have mentioned many times, on this blog, how we believe it is very important for our children to be each others best friends. This weekend we attended a conference called “Higher Calling.” I loved the name….what a wonderful thing to focus on….going higher and deeper with God. Over the years of having children I have been often blown away by their childlike faith. 
We have taught our children to pray from and early age. And I have never grown tired of hearing them pray.

Yesterday, the tractor we were seeding with, broke down. We were eating lunch when we heard Mark tell Josh on the 2 way radio that he was driving along and the tractor just stopped.

Truthfully we move them to pasture around this time every year!!! But I thought that was a more exciting way to start a post!!!!

This has been a phrase that I have read a lot on blogs or facebook over the past few years.
Basically this is how it goes....."COMPLAIN, COMPLAIN, COMPLAIN, COMPLAIN......I'm just keepin it real!!!"
I have thought this whole phrase through and figured out why it kind of bugs me.

I had a great Mother’s Day, thanks to my wonderful husband and kids. 
We had a nice day enjoying family and friends and of course eating together. 
And I also got many great gifts. Flip Flops, CD, book, hummingbird feeder, chocolates :), a beautiful bouquet of flowers and 3 roses. 
As great as all those gifts were, my favorite is the one I will receive in November (Lord willing). A lapbook is the same idea as a mini unit study. It covers a topic and can include all of your subjects except math. There are excellent resources online for lapbooks. For the lapbook we did on chickens I found most of my resources here.

On the 19th of February our most favorite daughter-in-law (she will carry that title for a few years:) Rebecca had a birthday.Now many may think that I forgot to post about her birthday, but quite the contrary, I have just been waiting for that perfect opportunity!!! As God added more children to our family, the number of unpoxed children grew.
They were exposed over and over, but never got them. 
When the poxes would be going around we would comment on how much "fun" it would be if our littles would get it! To demonstrate, I lit a candle and then put a cup over top. Within a couple of seconds the flame went out.

As you know, a stomach flu bug just swept through our home.
It started with 5 kids getting it during the night, all within a couple of hours.
Because the 2 little boys (Josiah &amp; Jaden) were still healthy and I really hoped they did not get this awful bug, I asked all those who were sick to keep their distance from them. No hugging, no sharing cups and especially...NO KISSES!

- 5 of your kids have the stomach flu....and that's not even half of them.

- When the stomach flu visit your home you can hardly walk in your laundry room because of the pile of    "soiled" blankets, sheets, pillow cases and PJ's.

- During a bout of the stomach flu, the floor is littered with buckets, blankets and moaning bodies.
