Its Saturday!

Saturday is one of the favorite days around here. 
Not because it's the weekend, because when you farm that doesn't really mean much! 
Not because they can sleep in. Because in the summer any given day may end up being a sleep in kind of day. 
Not because it's the day before Sunday, even though that is a very nice thing.
Not because jammies seem to be warn a little longer on Saturday mornings.
Not because it's left over day, even though it's real nice not to have to make a meal. 
It's because it's SMOOTHIE DAY! 


And oh, how we like our smoothies. Every Saturday our home is a buzz in the anticipation of the thing they have waited for all week!!! Yum, yum, refreshing, smoothies! 


Here are a couple of our favorite smoothie recipes. 
One for the kiddos:
1 frozen banana
Enough milk to cover banana
1 Tbsp. Baking cocoa
Enough sweetener to taste yummy. (we like to use honey, cane sugar or coconut sugar) 
Blend together until smooth. 
Pour into a smoothie type cup, put a straw in it (cause it's not a smoothie without a straw!) and enjoy :) 

And this is my favorite. In fact I have this smoothie every morning! Because I don't really like coffee by itself, this is the way I like to drink it.... Every. Single. Day. 
1 1/2 cups almond milk
1 cup cold coffee
1 Tbsp. baking cocoa
1 scoop protein powder
1 cup of ice
Sweetener of your choice (I use stevia) 
Blend together. Put in your favorite smoothie cup and enjoy!
