Train up a Child

Someone quoted the verse to me today, the one in Proverbs where it says, "Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it." Prov. 22:6 It was in reference to a guy who had became a Christian as a teen and then fell away from the Lord and now has recently come back to the Lord. I am excited for this guy. I think that is great! But my question is this: Why does everyone assume from this verse that it means the child will fall away and then come back to the Lord? It doesn't say he ever fell away, it says he will not depart from it. So to me this verse means train up a child in the way he should go and he will never depart from it. Hmmmmmmm.....................

Hi Rosalie!
I have been using a great new program to study the bible - in case it's something you'd use I thought I'd pass on the link. www.e-sword.net has a free download of software with which you can look at dozens of translations of the bible, commentaries, original greek/hebrew, etc. This guy is a programmer and believes that everyone should have access to these translations and helps for the bible FREE!
A couple of the translations are not free, but most of them are and you can pick and choose whichever ones you want to download.
You can easily type in study notes like the one you have here, that link to whatever verse you're looking at so the next time you would read the verse, this study note would come up. It's kind of neat comparing translations too, and looking at commentaries.
I thought it was neat anyways :) And there are a ton of other features for searching scriptures, finding root words and original meanings, bookmarking or highlighiting verses, and whatnot. .

The way I found it was I was thinking I'd like to buy myself a new bible and was researching what translation I wanted to buy, and I came across this site where they were all available free. So I felt it was a part of God's provision for me this year!

Anyways - I know not everyone likes to use software for reading, but it's really a great tool if you do!

Take care! Jenessa
