Preparation

Our home is a buzz.
Mops, brooms, mops, rags, vaccum cleaners....
Why? Because we are expecting some very special guests.
Sometime on the weekend.
We don't know exactly when their arrival will be,
But we want to be READY!
We want to make our home as clean and inviting as possible.
We have been motivated to go through every inch of the house and clean.
Tucked away in the corners we have found things that we don't need or use.
Things that we have become used to seeing there,
And even though we don't use it, or it's useless to us,
It has become part of our home, tucked in a corner, taking up space.
But because we are excited, no, we are beyond excited :)
This isn't a chore, it's not a burden,
It's a privelage, a joy!
And you can be sure that the moment we find out they are close to our home...
That we will be watching for them!
And the moment they pull up into our driveway...
There will be lots of hugs and tears and PURE JOY :)
This has got me to thinking about my life.
I also should be daily, eagerly expecting a special visit from Someone.
I should be daily examining the corners of my life,
The places where dust has collected and I have become used to things the way they are.
Even though they may not be at all useful to me, I have ignored them and kept them there.
But one day my guest will come for me, and my time will be up!
I won't have time to go through the corners and clean up all the dust and junk.
Time will be up!
So I need to be cleaning every day, purging every day....watching every day
Because I don't know exactly when that time will be.
But when He comes for me.... I WANT TO BE READY! I NEED TO BE READY!
For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night.
For when they say, “Peace and safety!” then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman.
And they shall not escape.
But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief.
You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness.
Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober.
For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk are drunk at night.
But let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvation.
1 Thess. 5:2-8
Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect. Matt. 24:44

Hope you have a great visit with the Muncks. I would love to meet Laura and her family in person some day as well. We have gotten to know each other via email and our blogs plus our babies were born on the same day 9-9-09.

Also, loved the way you tied this in to the way we should always be ready for Christ our bride-groom to come back and receive His bride!

Very thought provoking post. I too love when company comes because it's the perfect time to go through and perfect things that normally get shoved aside! Have fun with your visit.

So exciting! It's amazing how you can totally connect with someone from thousands of miles away, and feel like you've already met. I hope you have an amazing time together!

This is very belated, but congratulations on your new little one! Wow, twelve! I would love another baby, but I feel like I'm heading onto menopause...not ready for it though.
Blessings,
Kathy
