An Exciting Day in the Life of Our Cows

Please, Please, Please can you bring me where there is fresh grass and lots of room to roam?

Rebecca, you just tell me which way to go and I'll oblige (that's the way it went right Rebecca?)

I wish these humans would hurry up and stop talking so we could get on that trailer :)

Humans, could you please get with the program.

Mama.....Mama, do I have to go on that big scary trailer? Could I please just stay here with Jennifer, she's so nice to me!

Just you trust me junior, we are going to a place that is flowing with green fields of grass and lots of space to run. I know you will like it there.

Forward march. The sooner we get on, the sooner we will get to our green paradise.

Left, left, left, right, left......left, left

Bye Bye little girl, come visit us sometime.

Ya Josh, make sure you latch that tight. It wouldn't be a pretty sight if we fell out.

Goodbye stale hay bales, green pasture here we come.

Hey, does anyone want to play the alphabet game?

Can it really be. Are we really here? Now if I could just get up the courage to jump off this thing...I know I can, I did it last year. Come on Junior...One, two, three....JUMP!

Mama, it's just like you said....green everywhere and lots of room to run. Let's go explore!

Whoa Junior, wait for me. I'm not a spring chicken anymore you know.....Oh wait.....I'm a cow!

All done until fall. Thank you Pauls family for bringing us to our summer home. Don't forget to come and visit.

Awww..We are going to miss that sweet little thing :)

(photo taken by Mark's sister, Karen)
Lately I have been thinking a lot about love the way it is described in 1 Corinthians 13.
It describes a love so real, so complete.
Love never fails. NEVER FAILS! WOW!!!
When I want to strike back....LOVE
When I want to argue.....LOVE
When I feel the need to be right...LOVE
When I feel I've been mistreated....LOVE
When I feel rejected.....LOVE
When I feel like being selfish......LOVE
When I feel misunderstood.....LOVE
When I am envious.....LOVE
When I feel like being rude.....LOVE
But oh how I struggle. Struggle to show this kind of love daily, especially to my family.
I realize that the only way I can even begin to show this kind of love is first knowing and excepting the love my heavenly Father has for me. The deep, pure, unconditional and undeserving kind of love. And as I receive from Him, I can give to others. But in my own strength, I will fail.
1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal.
2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.
3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing.
4 Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up;
5 does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil;
6 does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth;
7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
8 Love never fails.

Energy x 4 = 4x the Energy

Having 4 boys ranging in ages of 10yrs. -5 yrs. can sometimes be a real challenge. 1 boy has LOTS of energy. Times that by 4 and you have LOTS, LOTS, LOTS and LOTS of energy. Too many times I complain about all their energy and I fail to be thankful and rise to the challenge of putting that energy into something that is constructive.

And talking about energy, I can see by watching my dear husband that this energy will come in very handy when my boys have a family (Lord willing) to provide for. Mark has been working very hard putting in the crops the last few days. I couldn't keep going like he is. Thank God for his energy. Thank you God for my boys energy!

For several days we have been clearing some bushes of dead branches, trees and such. The other evening the girls were busy at other tasks so I had the 4 boys with me. They got, as they sometimes do, in the 'we are mommy's best helpers' mode. And they were amazing little helpers, picking up load after load of leaves and branches.

My little boys like to help and protect their momma. And I have been noticing since Mark has been in the field a lot these days, the boys have kicked it up a gear. They are looking for ways to help me. When I am ready to do something difficult or lift something heavy they say. "I'll do that Momma". We didn't train them to do this specifically. But we have trained them to see when others are in need and help them, to be kind and loving. This has been coupled with the God given 'desire' to protect woman. I am so thankful for my 'little men' and their willingness to help. We have our moments and our days where it seems that all the training has 'went out the window', but then we have many moments like the past few days where they rise up to the occasion and bless my socks off.

If you have little boys give them and extra special hug today and thank God for their energy! Pray that God will give you wisdom to direct their energy to shape them into the person that God wants them to be. Whether that is a husband, daddy, friend, employee....

Well I must be off to spend some more 'quality time' with my boys checking and setting mole traps :)

Brandon Fair (Memories Monday) by Jen

The Brandon Fair is a winter fair that our family tries to go to every year. This year we were privilaged to be able to go with Josh and Rebecca and Rebecca's family, the Penners. Here is a photo journal of our day.
Megan had alot of fun with cowboy hats and girls :)
This is one of my favorite pictures (thanks Rita )

From left to right: Megan (finally out from behind the camera),

Penner's cousin Elena, Rita and Kerri.

And on top is Ruth

Raechelle and I
One of our favorite things to watch is the horse jumping. Here is one of the horse jumps. I must say the cell phones really looked real.
Megan couldn't use a flash so the pictures are somewhat blurry.
8 horse hitch.
It's always amazing to see how they manuveur those big horses in such a small ring.
There were a couple of trick riders.
One of the riders was Tom Bishop....
Here he is standing on the backs of 2 horses Roman riding
It was really amazing and looked hard.
Watching the show
Waiting for the night show
YUMMY snacks :)
Brooke looking cute as ever.
Holstein cows.
They seemed really big to me because I am used to our small Jersey cows
Donkeys, another one of my favorites

There was much more that we saw..... A petting zoo, Barrel racing (my favorite :), Super dogs, 6 horse hitch, and much more.

It's A...
